About Only Yoking

Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to you for coming to visit “Only Yoking” and staying for a while to read the posts.

Only Yoking is a blog created to fuel curiosity in a contemplative life, whether that be with flavours of a particular tradition; buddhist, taoist, vedanta, abrahamic etc. or without. It’s written with the intention that this kind of dialogue, centering around the contemplative sciences and mysticism, is not only helpful but is literally the most important topic to discuss. Perhaps, though, even more important is to practice, and so this blog hopes not to be too wordy, focusing on pragmatic and personal examples of yoga, the Way, Dharma, whatever word you wish to use.

Why Only Yoking? Well, you may have noticed that the titles playfully refers to the term “only joking”; used to highlight that whatever was said, was in jest. Only Yoking, then refers to the fact that whatever is said in this blog hopes to yolk, or facilitate the yoking of mine, yours, our awakening. The word yoga is thought by many to be related to the word for yoke, which is to attach two things together in close relationship, a union. This is, of course, the essence of yoga.

I hope you enjoy some of the words recorded on this site, I hope they resonate on some level with your own experience, I hope they ignite the bodhicitta. Also, if you wish to write some articles for this blog, then please do not hesitate to send an email expressing this wish, you can find the details on the “Contact us” page.

  1. Good work on establishing this blog and some great posts to read and contemplate already! I’ve shared a couple with my networks (Buddhism as a Way of Life on Linked IN and G+ and Facebook) in the hope that I can entice others to visit and follow you and give you an early boost in readership. Best wishes and Happy New Year. Cheers, Stephanie
